Frequently asked questions
Ordering fresh mithai online should feel as reassuring as buying it over a counter. Here is everything customers usually want to know before they order — and if anything is missing, just ask.
Ordering
How orders work from basket to confirmation.
Is Guddu Sweets a real shop I can visit?
We are an online-only Indian mithai business based in Edinburgh. Everything is made fresh to order in our kitchen and delivered to you — there is no shop counter or collection point, which is how we keep prices fair and batches fresh.
How do I know my order has gone through?
You will see a confirmation screen straight after payment and receive a confirmation email with your order number, items and chosen delivery date within a few minutes. If you don't see it, check your spam folder or email guddusweets@gmail.com and we will resend it.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes — up to 72 hours before your delivery date, for a full refund. Just email us with your order number. After that we may have already bought ingredients and started making your sweets.
How far in advance should I order for Raksha Bandhan or Diwali?
As early as you can. Festival delivery dates have limited capacity and typically sell out one to two weeks beforehand. Booking early guarantees your date.
Can I order a large amount for a wedding or party?
Yes. For bulk orders or custom mixes, email guddusweets@gmail.com or call 07478237090 and we will quote and plan the batch with you.
Delivery
When it arrives, what it costs and where we deliver.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is free on orders over £30. Below that a flat £4.99 charge applies, and it is always shown in your basket and at checkout before you pay — no surprises at the last step.
Can I choose my delivery date?
Yes. At checkout you pick from our available delivery dates, mainly weekends plus extra dates around festivals. Each date has a set capacity so we never take on more than we can make fresh.
Which areas do you deliver to?
We deliver across Edinburgh, Glasgow and the central belt, with the covered postcode areas listed at checkout. If your postcode isn't accepted, message us — we may still be able to arrange something.
What if I'm not home?
Please make sure someone can receive the order, as mithai is fresh and perishable. If you would like it left in a safe place, add that in the order notes; deliveries left at your instruction are at your own risk.
Can I send sweets as a gift to someone else?
Absolutely. Enter their address as the delivery address and add a gift message in the order notes. Prices are never included in the box.
Freshness and allergens
How the mithai is made, stored and how long it lasts.
How fresh are the sweets?
Everything is made in small batches close to your delivery date — never mass produced or bought in and re-boxed. Most mithai is at its best within 3–5 days of delivery.
How should I store them?
Keep sweets in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Milk-based mithai such as barfi and rasmalai should be refrigerated and brought to room temperature for 15 minutes before serving. Storage guidance comes with your order.
Do your sweets contain nuts or dairy?
Many do. Our kitchen handles milk, nuts (cashew, pistachio, almond), wheat, sesame and soya, so we cannot guarantee any item is free from traces. Every product page lists its main ingredients — please tell us about allergies before ordering, and don't order if you're unsure.
Are your sweets vegetarian?
Yes, all our mithai is vegetarian. Many items are milk-based, so they are not suitable for a vegan diet.
Payment and security
Reassurance on how your money and details are handled.
Is it safe to pay by card on this site?
Yes. Payments are handled by Stripe, one of the world's largest payment providers. Your card details are entered directly with Stripe over an encrypted connection — Guddu Sweets never sees or stores your card number.
What payment methods do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link. Apple Pay and Google Pay appear automatically at checkout on supported devices.
When is my card charged?
In full at the time you place the order, so we can secure your delivery date and buy ingredients for your batch.
What if something arrives damaged or wrong?
Contact us within 24 hours of delivery with a photo and your order number. We will send a replacement on the next available date or refund you — whichever you prefer.
Do you store my personal details?
Only what we need to fulfil your order and keep proper records: name, contact details, address and order history. We never sell your data. Full details are in our privacy policy.
